This one had some history to it - literally. The property we worked on in Orchard Park sits on the grounds of the Obadiah Baker Homestead, a landmark dating back to 1840. It's not every day you're doing site prep and hydroseeding on land that meaningful. That alone made it a job worth doing right.

The yard had some rough areas that needed to be addressed before anything could grow properly. Uneven ground, exposed soil, patches where nothing was taking hold. Our site prep process got the ground leveled and loose enough to give seed a real fighting chance. That part matters more than most people realize - hydroseeding over poorly graded ground is a waste of time and money. The foundation has to be solid first.

Once the grading was done, we brought in Bison Bluegrass to handle the hydroseeding. They do excellent work, and this was a great collaboration. Hydroseeding applies a slurry of seed, mulch, and nutrients directly onto the prepared soil in one pass. It bonds to the ground, holds moisture, and gives seed a much better germination environment than dry seeding ever could - especially on larger open areas like this one.

The teal-green color you see across the yard after application is the hydromulch. It's a visual indicator of even coverage and it breaks down naturally as the grass establishes. It also acts as a protective layer that keeps seed in place during rain and helps retain moisture between waterings. For a bare yard this size, it's by far the most efficient and effective way to get grass going.

We're really happy with how this one came out, and we've got a customer testimonial on the way that we think says it all. Big thanks to Bison Bluegrass for teaming up with us - it's always better when you're working alongside people who take the same pride in their craft that you do.
