A fence gives you privacy today. A living hedge wall gives you privacy that keeps getting better. That's exactly the thinking behind this juniper hedge installation - a row of hardy, deer-resistant junipers planted and staked to grow into a dense, natural privacy wall that will fill in more every single season.

We get a lot of requests for privacy screening, and juniper is one of our go-to recommendations. It grows upright, stays full from the base up, handles harsh winters well, and deer tend to leave it alone. That last point matters more than people realize - nothing is more frustrating than watching a privacy planting get browsed down before it has a chance to establish.

Part of doing this right is the installation details. Each plant was staked with support posts and lined with a guide cord to keep the row perfectly straight as they root in and start pushing new growth. Skipping that step might save time upfront, but you end up with a wavy, uneven wall that never quite looks intentional. We'd rather do it right the first time.

Fresh black mulch ties the whole bed together. It gives the planting a clean, finished look right away while also helping retain moisture and regulate soil temperature around the new root systems. It's one of those details that makes a big difference in how a fresh install actually looks when it's done.

This is the kind of landscape design and installation work we genuinely enjoy - functional, low-maintenance, and built to improve over time. A well-chosen planting in the right spot adds real value to a property, and a hedge like this one will be doing its job for decades.
