We're getting this one underway in Lancaster and the groundwork is already telling a good story. This property needed a retaining wall - not just for looks, but to do some real work. Soil management, clean edges, a yard that actually functions the way it should. That's what a well-built wall delivers.
Before a single block goes in, we take the time to get the site dialed in. That means pulling out the laser level, setting grade, and making sure everything is plumb and true from the start. It's the kind of step that's easy to skip and impossible to fix later. We don't skip it.
The existing landscape beds gave us a solid starting point - fresh mulch, shaped shrubs, young trees staked and growing in. The bones are good here. Our job is to tie it all together with a wall that holds the grade and frames the front of this home the right way.
Site prep is where retaining walls either succeed or fail. Getting the ground ready - compacted base, proper drainage considerations, correct excavation depth - that's what separates a wall that lasts decades from one that starts shifting after a couple winters. We take that seriously on every job.
More progress coming on this one. Lancaster homeowners dealing with sloped yards, eroding beds, or ground that just won't stay put - a retaining wall might be exactly what your property needs.
